We work with patients, hospitals, universities, industry and others to take the best new ideas from cutting-edge science, and use them to create new tests and treatments that benefit patients more quickly.
Our clinical research facility (CRF) is led by Director, Professor Nick Webb, and Operational Director, Helen Pidd. We provide operational support services to assist investigators undertaking high-quality early phase research across a diverse range of clinical areas, working closely with our sites at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust (The Christie) and University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM):
- In-patient and out-patient areas (adult’s and children’s)
- Imaging and technical support
In 2014/15, Greater Manchester was in the top two nationally for the number of research studies, recruits and publications in medical journals. Funding from the NIHR (2017–2022) enabled us to bring together our CRF sites at CMFT, The Christie and UHSM)under a single management structure from 1 April 2017. By encouraging a more collaborative approach, this will provide more patients with the opportunity to take part in research and drive efficiencies in our ways of working. Whether you are a patient or researcher, you can be confident that our dedicated clinical research and administration team will take care of your requirements. We have state-of-the-art equipment, and an extensive track record of supporting early-phase clinical trials in adults and children of all ages.
