The Biobank

The Biobank has been established to facilitate the conduct of high-quality biomedical research. Project examples include basic scientific research on wound healing, tissue engineering and biomarker discovery.

We supply tissue samples with linked clinical data to researchers based at University of Manchester laboratories, other academic institutions in the United Kingdom and private or commercial organisations.

All appropriate donors are identified by our clinical care teams or the Complex Wound Biobank research team through regular clinics or operating lists at MFT. Our key points of recruitment are with the Plastic Surgery Clinics, the Complex Wound Clinic at Wythenshawe Hospital and the Burns department at Wythenshawe and Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

All applications to the Biobank will be checked for compliance with the terms of donor consent.
