As part of the NHS, we help to improve people’s health by providing a valuable resource to researchers wanting to understand why some people develop particular diseases and why others do not.
At Manchester Hospitals, we provide a high-quality, efficient and not-for-profit biobanking and cellular pathology research service. We source, store, prepare and analyse human biological samples (e.g. tissue, blood, DNA) to support clinical trials and research projects led by the NHS, universities and commercial partners. A better understanding of the link between genetics and disease can help to prevent illness occurring in the first place, as well as develop new diagnostic tests and treatments.
Biobank
We hold a large collection of human biological samples. We also provide collection, pre-analytical, storage and extraction services.
Cellular pathology research service
We provide a range of histology techniques.
