Event details

On Saturday 25th April, researchers from our Trust, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and The University of Manchester as part of the NIHR Manchester Musculoskeletal Biomedical Research Unit will take over the Manchester Platform for Investigation* at the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) to showcase cutting edge research into arthritis.

Everyone is invited to take part in live experiments and activities between 10:30am – 3:30pm to find out more about how we use the latest science and medical technology to predict, diagnose and treat arthritis.

Get ready to put on a lab coat and have the chance to extract your own DNA.  The event, which has been organised by CMFT’s Public Programmes team, gives you the chance to look at your joints look through an ultrasound machine and see just how hot you are with our thermal imaging scanner. You also have the chance to help us test our new pain app. Researchers will be hosting short workshops throughout the day to giving you the chance to extract your own DNA and will also be on hand to answer any of your questions.

If you can’t join us don’t forget to follow the #MOSIPi hashtag on Twitter to keep an eye on what we get up to or visit the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Manchester Musculoskeletal Biomedical Research Unit website.

*Pi at the Platform for Investigation is our monthly contemporary science programme showcasing cutting edge research, live experiments and art and science collaborations.
