“Big thank you” to CMFT and partner organisation staff who worked tirelessly to see R-PEAK rolled out across Greater Manchester

Colleagues from CMFT and partner organisations have received high praise for their work after seeing R-PEAK go live across Greater Manchester.

The IT system to manage clinical research studies was developed in-house by Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) Research and Innovation (R&I) and IT department staff, alongside colleagues from the region’s NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN).  The NIHR is the research arm of the Department of Health.

The system is now being used by staff in NHS Trusts across Greater Manchester, East Cheshire and East Lancashire as well as at the NIHR CRN headquarters based at CMFT.

R-PEAK Project Manager, Daniel Zamora said:

I want to thank colleagues for their dedication and contribution to this project. The multi-disciplinary teams have worked so well together and their involvement has been invaluable. The project as a whole showcases how we are able to push the boundaries of what is possible in managing research with an IT system.

“The system will not only be invaluable to staff including researchers across several medical sites, but it will also be hugely beneficial to patients as it efficiently creates reports and tracks the performance of our studies, as we endeavour as always to constantly improve our services.

“There’s still a long road ahead, and scope to further develop R-PEAK, but now is a good time to celebrate a great achievement.”
