Celebrating our Divisional Stars
The Research and Innovation (R&I) Division celebrated the achievements of all those nominated in the Trust’s Divisional Star Awards.
Colleagues got together at The Nowgen Centre on Thursday 25th February, where Divisional Director, Kathy Evans presented certificates and gave a short speech to congratulate winners and nominees.
Emma Harrison, Play Specialist at the NIHR / Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, was named as the individual Divisional Star for the R&I Division.
The Divisional Management Team selected Emma in recognition for the excellent work she does that goes above and beyond her role to ensure the experience for children and families taking part in research is the best it can be, as well advocating the role of play in clinical treatment.
Emma received several nominations for the award with her colleagues commenting on her dedication to her role.
One said: “She is an invaluable member of the team. She brings such a positive attitude to work on a daily basis and constantly puts 100% into her work.”
Another stated: “The whole ward has a positive vibe generally but when Emma is here it is increased massively. She is a credit to her role, she hasn’t been in role long but the difference she had made cannot be described.”
Other staff members who were nominated for the individual award were also commended at the event. They were: Adult Oncology Senior Research Nurse, Vicki Conroy; Divisional Research Manager at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Lucy Dwyer; Vaccines Research Nurse, Patricia Graham; Quality Manager, Dr Clare Griffin; Divisional Research Manager at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Alison Robinson; Paediatric Haematology Research Nurse, Sharon Thind and Senior Divisional Research Manager, Dr Iain McLean.
The Adult Oncology Research Team was announced as the winner of the team award. The Divisional Management Team selected the group in recognition of the excellent work team members have done in developing adult oncology research and ensuring trials are accessible to patients, delivered safely and accompanied by a very high standard of care.
The team’s nomination read: “The team network and embed themselves in other clinical teams that see cancer patients including colorectal surgery, gynaecology, haematology, orthopaedics and ENT. The team have worked hard to ensure that all trials are accessible to patients, delivered safely and use very high standards of care to support them through their treatment.”
Colleagues from other groups nominated for the award, the Molecular Diagnostic Centre team and the Paediatric Haematology Research Team, were also at the event to enjoy the celebrations.
Kathy said:
It is fantastic to be able to get together with members of the Division to celebrate the unquestionable dedication, commitment and enthusiasm of all of our staff members.
“I was delighted to be able to present the certificates to the very worthy winners of the awards and commemorate the nominees too. I would like to thank everyone who took the time to nominate a colleague for the awards. They would not take place at all if it was not for our staff who want to recognised and celebrate the work of their colleagues.”
Emma and members of the Adult Oncology Team have been invited to join all other Divisional Star winners at the We’re Proud of You awards at Gorton Monastery on Wednesday 9th March.
