Changes to the way we conduct research due to COVID-19
Due to concentrated efforts to support the set-up and activity of research studies to understand and treat COVID-19, and to ensure public and patient safety, changes have been made to the way we conduct research at MFT.
We have ended research activity with patients not providing treatment which is essential (life or limb-saving) or to ensure patient safety.
Decisions will be made on a study by study basis, in discussion with the Principal Investigator, but this broadly means:
- No new patients/participants will be recruited into research studies unless that study it is essential for their treatment e.g. oncology studies.
- All research visits from patients into the hospitals has ceased except for those necessary to maintain the treatment delivered by the study or to ensure the safety of the patient. Where possible all patient follow up activity will be conducted by telephone or other remote means.
