Manchester Centre for Sexual Health top recruiting site in the UK for HIV-1 study
Dr Gabriel Schembri and research team at the Manchester Centre for Sexual Health (MCSH) based at CMFT, successfully recruited six patients into a commercial drug trial within two weeks, reaching their target.
This international trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness, safety and tolerability of an investigational once-daily single tablet regimen for the treatment of HIV-1 infection, which contains Tenofovir Alafenamide (TAF). The study is funded by Gilead Sciences Ltd and supported by the NIHR.
Special thanks to the R&D Division who granted approvals in record time, patients and research staff, and to all those who support research within our department, including the CMFT Biobank (sample processing and logistical support), Radiology and research Pharmacy.
