Pride of Manchester – Best Overall Entry
Staff from the R&I Division marched with colleagues from across Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) at the 2018 Manchester Pride Parade which saw the largest turn out of NHS staff so far.
Around 350 NHS staff members from across Greater Manchester took to the streets as ‘one NHS’ to celebrate and raise awareness in support for LGBT+ communities in one of the biggest Pride events in the UK.
The overwhelming turnout and support from the crowd helped the NHS win ‘Best Overall Entry’ in the parade .
Gary Heaton, LGBT staff network Chair at MFT said:
Around 90 members of staff from across MFT joined the NHS parade. It was a fantastic day which not only saw us win Best Overall Entry but more importantly celebrate equality with so many of our colleagues.
Geraldine Thompson, Lead Governor at MFT proudly led the march through Manchester city centre said:
I felt proud to walk alongside R&I and NHS colleagues, holding the NHS banner and marching to the cheers from the thousands out celebrating Pride weekend. I feel proud and humbled to have seen and felt the Mancunian Spirit in full support for our LGBT+ communities.
