Clinical research nurses lead Christmas themed Research Rover to help spread the message that we do research

On Monday 14th December the Rudolph themed Research Rover visited Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital with research nurses on hand to spread the message about research to staff in clinical areas.

The aim of the Research Rover is to highlight the breadth of research studies underway and provide useful signposting information for Research Champions in the relevant areas. Research nurses were also on hand to answer any questions that doctors, nurses or allied health professionals.

Senior Clinical Research Nurse at the Manchester Heart Centre, Thabitha Charles, led the Rover and said:

The Rover is a great way to informally introduce ourselves and promote our research to clinical staff who may not be aware of the different studies taking place in their area.

We hope that by speaking with staff we will build on knowledge that it is OK to ask about research and in turn patients and healthy volunteers will develop a better understanding of how taking part in research plays an important role in developing medicines and medical devices that could help others in the future
