Come join us for Science Uncovered Manchester next Friday (25th September) between 5 – 9 pm at Manchester Museum.

Science Uncovered Manchester is a unique event, where visitors can meet over 50 scientists, curators and researchers delivering a number of activities and formats alongside professional educations In a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

This is a unique experience to meet researchers from our NIHR Manchester Musculoskeletal Biomedical Research Unit and CMFT Public Programmes Team who will be on hand at the research stands. If you’ve ever wondered why people develop musculoskeletal disorders

  • Treating arthritis: right first time: An interactive exploration of several current diagnostic and research methods used in current rheumatology research including thermal imaging, ultrasound scanning and DNA extraction.
  • Osteoarthritis: what goes wrong and how can we fix it? Interested in bones, muscles and joints? You can hear about pioneering new treatments, and the science we use to treat arthritis therapies. Take part in demonstrations, have an ultrasound of your hand and see how gait analysis can be used to look at our joints as we walk.

This is amongst a whole host of other research stands, including:

  • DNA from human bones
  • Inflammation: the good and the bad
  • The science behind saving species from extinction

Visitors will be able to relax at the Museum café and pop-up bar and talk informally about science topics or engage with one of the displays on offer throughout the evening of Friday 25 September 2015.

Science Uncovered Manchester builds upon the enormous success of previous Science Uncovered at the NHM in London and Tring and Manchester Museum’s After Hours events to deliver increased participation of a diverse public audience in a captivating event to meet dynamic and engaging scientists in a scintillating festival of scientists in Manchester.  With our Museum curators and the dynamic community of scientists within Manchester University, Manchester Metropolitan University and
