Strategic property partnership paves the way for healthcare of the future
Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) today announces the creation of a new 10-year strategic property partnership with leading property company Bruntwood.
This innovative new property partnership, thought to be the first of its kind in the UK, will support the delivery of clinical care, research and innovation, as well as the future development of CMFT’s estate. Bruntwood will provide a range of services including planning and construction advice and design services.
The partnership will bring together the expertise and capability of both partners to use space and facilities more efficiently and ensure that buildings are designed in a flexible and agile way, both now and in the future. Bruntwood will help CMFT shape and develop its estate by providing property development expertise and flexible design solutions tailored to clinical need.
The new strategic property partnership will support Manchester’s bid to become an international centre of biomedical sciences, where science is translated into new diagnostics, treatments and health services of the future, and play a key role in the positioning of Corridor Manchester as a European Top 5 Innovation District. Biomedical sciences are a key priority sector for economic growth in Greater Manchester.
This new strategic property partnership supports the development of the Greater Manchester Devolution agenda which sees the region taking control of its £6bn health and social care budget from April 2016 and shaping and delivering its vision for a healthier conurbation.
This new partnership is an exciting development that will help us realise our vision for the future. Our hospital campus is constantly evolving and changing to meet the needs of our patients, capturing the potential of new technology to drive service improvements through to clinical practice,
said Sir Michael Deegan, CMFT Chief Executive.
“The new partnership will shape the way we use our site and facilities and ensure they are used to best effect. This will support the delivery of high quality services and innovative, ground-breaking treatments, in line with patient need.”
Chris Oglesby, Chief Executive at Bruntwood, said:
“We are delighted to have been chosen as CMFT’s strategic property partner. Our experience of working with the Trust on projects such as the phenomenally successful Citylabs development and the Grafton Street car park, has given us an insight into the challenges it faces as it strives to achieve its vision and deliver its strategic aims.
“This new partnership will allow us to demonstrate our ability to work collaboratively, deliver value, and develop innovative and flexible funding solutions to get the best results. Bruntwood has a long-standing track record of working in partnership for the benefit of our clients and the wider region. We have a deep understanding of, and commitment to, the development of the health, science and technology economy in Greater Manchester arising from active involvement in long-established city partnerships, including Corridor Manchester.”
