The Nest – 29th October – Theatre exploring patient safety issues

Event details

As part Manchester Science Festival 2015, the Interface and Informatics theme of the Greater Manchester Patient Safety Translational Research Centre, in collaboration with the Public Programmes Team at The Nowgen Centre, will present their innovative public engagement project exploring the sharing of health data.

We have commissioned local theatre company Strawberry Blonde Curls to produce an audience-active, adult-focussed piece of bespoke theatre exploring patient safety issues. Through scenario and play acting, we will capture audience opinion on whether or not they would share their health data, with whom, and what the consequences might be of doing so. Audience opinion will dictate how the storyline progresses, making it highly interactive.

The Nest is a timely new drama produced by the critically acclaimed Strawberry Blonde Curls Theatre Company; writer Rosie MacPherson and producer John Tomlinson.

Directed by Peter Bradley and designed by Bethany Wells, this one-off piece will be performed by Ray Ashcroft (Coronation Street, The Bill, Truckers) and Hannah Butterfield (21,000 Miles of Rail, BBC Performing Arts Fellowship Winner).

This work has been supported and funded by The University of Manchester, Greater Manchester NIHR Clinical Research Network, & Salford Research & Development Centre as part of Manchester Science Festival 2015.
