Watch Dr Sebastien Viatte discuss his research at the EULAR Congress
Last week Dr Sebastien Viatte, Research Fellow at The University of Manchester, spoke at the European League Against Rheumatism Congress 2014 press conference about his latest research into genotyping and arthritis.
The research team behind the paper also included Professor Anne Barton, BRU Theme Lead for Inflammatory Arthritis in Adults and Mr Darren Plant, BRU Research Fellow. The research presented, titled Genotyping can accurately predict disease outcomes in rheumatoid arthritis patients, shows the amino acid valine at position 11 of HLA-DRB1 gene to be the strongest independent genetic determinant of radiological damage in rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
