2017 First Patient Challenge

At the start of 2017 we challenged our teams to pursue as many first patients recruited to commercially sponsored trials as they could, whether first global, European or UK.

Overall we achieved an impressive 14 first patients recruited to trials, including a global first in Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and a European first in Haematology. Teams within the Division of Specialist Medicine Services managed a total of six firsts.

One of the reasons for having this challenge was to see how we can set up all of our studies quicker and more efficiently, and hopefully that learning experience happened for all teams whether it ended in a first patient recruitment or not.
