Conducting research

At any one time we manage over 800 clinical studies across Manchester Hospitals’ (MFT) nine hospitals and community services.

Before setting up your study you need to meet a number of key requirements as well as following the points below:

  • Before setting up a study, your first point of contact is the Hospital Research and Innovation Manager responsible for your speciality area.
  • All research projects conducted by MFT researchers, on our premises or with our patients must be registered with the Trust through the Research Office, and have received confirmation that the Trust has the capacity and capability to deliver the project or R&D approval.
  • If you are not employed by the NHS, you will need to apply for access to individual NHS Trusts using the Research Passport form. Please download our Research Passport FAQ for more information.
